Angelina Jolie’s forthcoming film directing debut depicts a love story between a Muslim woman and a Serbian man.
But despite the potentially incendiary subject matter (it’s impossible to guess how some Muslims will react), Jolie says the film is intended just as a good story and a romance:
“The important thing is I want to make sure that we make a film for people who just want to go to the movies to watch a love story,” Jolie told The Hollywood Reporter. “To not be put off by anything that seems too heavy. So we want to walk that fine line to make it accessible to everybody because it’s important for as many people to see it.”
Those appear to me to be laudable intentions.
Two versions of the film will be released, one in English and one in the eastern European dialect of the film’s characters, according to the HR story. Full story here.
