For calling a fellow actor a "fag" during an argument with still another actor, Isaiah Washington has been fired from ABC television’s highy popular series Grey’s Anatomy.
Washington released the following public statement in regard to the firing: "I’m mad as hell, and I’m not going to take it anymore."
T. R. Knight, the openly homosexual actor whom Washington had referred to with the epithet, will remain with the show, earning $125,000 per episode.
Washington had made the usual round of apologies after the incident and another at a Golden Globe awards ceremony press gathering, but clearly the original offense was too egregious for ABC to endure.
We now know what the only unforgiveable sin is in the contemporary United States.
It’s getting even worse. Dr. James W. Holsinger Jr., Bush’s nominee for surgeon general, is being called “homophobic” and “bigoted” for a 16-year-old medical paper in which he simply explained, in technical language, the impact of certain abnormal sex acts (anal sex, “fisting”, etc.) on the human body. I discuss the uproar in a recent post. We’re reached the point of politically-correct coercion that objectively describing acts that are performed predominantly by homosexual men is considered “homophobic.” How soon before it will be a “hate crime”?
