Touche, Jim. I think what is really most offensive about the magazine cover is the headline. To say that the sex scandals are what the Church is all about today is simply contemptible. It’s like saying that what the Obama administration is all about is . . . well, use your imagination to fill in the blank.
I note from the story that this is the biggest religious insult controversy in Germany since another magazine published a Muhammad cartoon.
I think it’s a safe bet, however, that a cartoon depicting such as blasphemous act will not result in Catholics murdering people in the streets or putting out a hit on the editor of the magazine. I wonder why that might be?
