Once again, low-rated shows, largely with a negative attitude toward American institutions and the conventions of bourgeois life, dominated Hollywood’s Emmy Awards for primetime television programming this year.
In the awards announced on Sunday night’s telecast, the industry’s elites once again demonstrated their disregard for their audiences’ preferences and their intent to continue using their bully pulpit to turn the nation into a banana republic.

I’m puzzled regarding the nature of your complaint, EW. The point of this brief article was that the market is much more reasonable and open to real diversity of ideas than the Hollywood elites are. The latter are the ones who attempt to enforce conformity.
You imbeciles all want something to conform to your narrow ideology; should the market respond to your tastes?
You know I would like to issue a challenge to these studios and that is to see one of a challenge to any network to produce a mini-series about Gen William T. Sherman and his March To The Sea Campaign. He was a General who have been wrongfully criticized by history and freed more slaves and killed less of the enemy during that period.
Good question, Fortunato. Actually, I have no great feelings regarding 30 Rock one way or the other, although I don’t watch the show. The episodes I saw were amusing. I just don’t think it’s anywhere near to being great and meriting an award as best comedy series.
I reviewed Damages very positively and enthusiastically during its first season. Season 2, however, was just a very poor replay of season 1 with none of the nuances of the first season and with the anti-business angle taking a much stronger tone. Mad Men likewise is just treading the same ground as its earlier episodes and continually pours contempt on bourgeois values. That’s why the elites who vote for the awards like these shows, and I don’t agree with those standards.
I can see why 30Rock is not your taste (neither is it mine, though for different reasons) but what’s your problem with Damages and Mad Men?
The Emmy’s biggest flaw in my view are predictably (you can see long in advance who’s going to win) and repetitiveness (same people winning over and over again)
